At a meeting she was hosting last week at Round Lake library, Democrat U.S.Rep. Melissa Bean demonstrates a typically Democrat way of discouraging unfavorable questions (H/T: Gateway Pundit via Steve Stevelic):
I'm alarmed that this happened in the library that my wife and kids go to. That guy is in charge of security for the library. Maybe we'll have to go to Grayslake instead.
This is Chicago-style thuggery come to Lake County. See how Bean, and the fellow from the Treasury Dept., stand and smile as that goon towers over that woman. These people are not threatening, they are remaining in their seats, and they are exercising their right to seek answers from their representative. And what's the response? Threats of physical violence.
This is what the left does when it's in power.

Damn! I'm sorry I missed that. Here's how you handle this:
1. Loudly warn thug that you feel threatened by threats presence and close proximity to your person. Loudly ask him to identify himself, who he works for and his title. Instruct him to back away now!
2. If threat fails to back off repeat both questions loudly adding that you are still feeling threatened.
3. If threat fails to back off repeat both questions a third time along with the fact that you still feel threatened and state that you will defend yourself if the threat does not back off. If the threat does not cease it's threatening behavior react and defend yourself by any all appropriate means...
9 times out of 10 the threat will say nothing across all three challenges. With a room full of witnesses who heard you issue three warnings you are safely covered. After all you felt threatened, you repeatedly asked for threat to back off, threat failed to do so. At that point what choice did you have...
Thuggery, YES. Arrogance, YES. Scary, DEFINITELY. Surprizing NO!!!!!
Her whole attitude reminds me of attitude of Pat Murphy D- IA House 28 & Speaker of the House here in DBQ.
PS: Paul, hopefully the thugs won't show up at your place for putting this up.
Yeah, the representative should have figured out a way to answer questions. And that security guard was way overzealous. Living in Oakland I wouldn't call it thuggery, but everybody has their point of view.
I don't understand why the guy insisted on filming during the credit/finance portion. It sounded like that was a segment planned well in advance, and that people would have sensitive questions. The "I'll turn it off if somebody asks something personal" is defeating the purpose. People are less likely to ask something sensitive if there is tape rolling.
Paul, jtgyk,
Absolutely and awesome video. Just the kind of evasion, deceit, and thuggery that is going on in this country today!
Pops,
Really??? This is considered intimidation? Seems to me that the cameraman was being obnoxious. I thought she, and her friend, handled themselves beautifully. Man, Republicans are easily frightened.
Given how often liberals resort to actual violence, having this guy hulking over a 5'3" woman looks pretty intimidating to me.
Paul, jtrgyk,
I don't want to use your blog to get into a discussion with another one of your commenters however, I have to comment to Jake,
Jake, you threw me a curve. My son is named Jacob and I thought it was him at first. Having said that, I believe the cameraman said he would turn off the camera when personal items were going to be discussed. My mommy and daddy would have called that being polite. What do you call it? Oh, yes, obnoxious. Check the definition on both words. I bet my "polite" is closer than your "obnoxious"
Regarding intimidation, I would be more than happy to take this case to court. Having more than a few years on the police department I have learned you don't have to make threats, or growl, or bulk up. Mere size and demeanor will get me a guilty plea of a jury of my peers.
And finally, why is it liberals always revert to name calling. Why didn't you just say Republicans are a bunch of fraidy cats or something equally as silly?
Jake, one last thing, Please feel free to vent/rant or rave at Conservative Outrage, my blog. Just keep it clean. Conservatives tend to have morals, respect and honor.
Pops
Paul, thanks for allowing me to respond.
Pops..
I fail to see where I name called. Is obnoxious really name calling?? Man, you are more sensitive than I thought. I would enjoy seeing you take this "case" to court. That would be a hoot!! And Paul, please, don't paint liberals as violent. Seems to me there is plenty of violence on both sides of the isle. I mean, Tiller comes to mind. Is that a cheap shot, probably, but so is painting the left as the only violent party.
Jake, the guy who shot Tiller had converted to the pro-choice side of the aisle.
Do you have any video of a GOP congressman looking on so approvingly while this sort of intimidating-- yes, I said intimidating, as the diminutive woman who experienced it described it -- behavior?
How about the guy who took hostages in Maryland just this week, inspired by Al Gore?
Liberal philosophy encourages violence. Violence by conservatives is by people who've abandoned what we believe.
Tiller was pro-choice?? Ha..that is laughable. He was/is associated with militia groups. Last I checked, those in militias tend to lean more to the right...do you disagree??
And please, I could say the same thing...violence by liberals is by people who've abandoned what we believe. It is nonsense to think that violence is answer. I think we both can agree that there is good people on both sides of the isle that DON'T think violence is the answer. This video did not portray violence or intimidation.
Tiller's killer was pro-choice. When you decide that you have the right to determine who lives and who dies, you've become pro-choice.
You're not pro-life anymore, when you pick up a firearm and form the intent to kill someone. You are, by that act, pro-choice. You are claiming the right to choose to kill.
Tiller's killer wasn't fulfilling the pro-life philosophy, he was abandoning it.
Mr. Lee in Maryland, now, he was fulfilling the environmentalist philosophy.
Jake, liberalism is a philosophy of death, and I'm far from the first to say so.
Yes, there are many liberals who are not violent. But there are some who carry liberalism to its logical conclusion.
And yes, this video does demonstrate intimidation, as reported by the people who were the target of the treatment.
Ha!!! Beautiful, one of your own kills a man, and you portray him as pro-choice. That is RICH. Yeah, forget about his past and the fact that he describes himself as pro-life. But okay, let's go with he was "pro-choice". Does that make him a liberal? Or is it that he is a violent conservative?? Because my point wasn't that he was pro-life..my argument was that he was a violent right winger who resorted to intimidation. My point was that intimidation and violence exists on both sides. Do you disagree??
I mean, most militias are radical right wingers...and they are known for intimidation and violence.
My point, Jake, is that the guy who shot Dr. Tiller had given up the values of the pro-life movement, and embraced liberal morality. Do you fail to understand this?
And I'd love it if you could up with an actual incidence of violence or intimidation perpetrated by an actual conservative militia group.
And for the record, I'm not aware of any actual functioning militia group at the present time.

Jack, I am just a sensitive old guy. Went to public schools, got married, had children and now a grandpa. So if you will just bear with me and support you comment above. Could you give me a couple of radical RW's know for intimidation along with the who and where this intimidation took place.
tks,
Pops
