Once you become a liberal, you can wax eloquent on the glories of the public schools while sending your kids to private school. You can wax prolix about the greedy rich while making a fortune on the side. You can even use the government to impose your values willy-nilly, from racial quotas and confiscatory tax rates to draconian environmental policies and sex-ed for grade-schoolers — all of which will paid for in part by people who disagree with you.
You don't even have to give up traditional religion, so long as you now define the teachings of your faith in perfect compliance with the Democratic platform.
Why, just look at John Kerry. In 2004, the Democratic nominee repeatedly insisted that his religious faith is "why I fight against poverty. That's why I fight to clean up the environment and protect this earth. That's why I fight for equality and justice. All of those things come out of that fundamental teaching and belief of faith." Great! But when it comes to, say, abortion, consulting one's faith is a no-no: "What is an article of faith for me is not something that I can legislate on somebody who doesn't share that article of faith."

Liberal Hypocrisy
We've all seen this, but Jonah Goldberg describes it well:

It never ceases to amaze me how ANYONE could NOT see through their ridiculous proposals and how they actually live their lives. To me, it seems that the only reason anyone would turn a blind eye to things like you mention and then vote for a candidate like that is because they stand for an ideal, but don't actually have to WORK for it (i.e. walk the walk) and most people are lazy and want their laziness justified.
You mean like Senators Vitter and Craig?
Vitter, the conservative Lousiana Senator (and an allegedly devout Roman Catholic) who preaches abstinence only, and speaks so eloquently about the sanctity of marriage while sleeping around with prostitutes. What a guy.
Let's not forget conservative Republican Senator Craig...the protector of family values who likes to have anonymous gay sex in mens bathrooms.
Looks as though there's enough hypocrisy to go around for both liberals and conservatives alike.
That's right, just like John Kerry, whose hypocrisy forced him out of office and earned him the low opinions of even his own party memembers...
Wait, that's Vitter and Craig.
The difference is, when we find 'em on the Republican side, they suffer for their hypocrisy. On the Dem side, you forgive them anything as long as they're pro-abortion.
It's virtually impossible to be both a "liberal" and a "hypocrite". To be a hypocrite, one must live one's life in a manner that fails to live up to some standard that one espouses.
As we all know, liberals have no standards. The only thing they live by is to do whatever it takes to acquire and maintain power. By that standard, hypocrisy is an impossibility for liberals.
Another difference "anonymous" is that Vitter and Craig know what they did was wrong. Most of us are against stealing but we see it all the time at work. Falling from grace once doesn't make one a hypocrite. Constantly saying one thing while doing the opposite does.
We can't say that about James McGreevy who was man-whoring around for years, then sloughs off the wife of his youth to practice recreational proctology, and now wants to be an Episcopal priest. What a man of God!
Another is that when a conservative or libertarian is caught doing bad things it's front page news and it's the end of the world. With liberals no one cares because everyone expects such behavior from them. Just watch Extra or ET and see Hollywood adultery, sodomy and kids as accessories on a nightly basis.
Liberals can't betray convictions they don't have.
Looks like you may have spoken too soon about Craig.
And speaking as a "liberal" whose kids go or will go to a public school, who has yet to make a fortune, and who is very much a part of a traditional religion I would defintely argue that there are certainly parts of my faith that you simply can't legislate.
Ah, Scott, nobody says that all liberals are hypocrites.
Only that when liberals are hypocrites, they get a pass.
Looks as though there's enough hypocrisy to go around for both liberals and conservatives alike.
So two Republican scum bags who are being run out of the party on a rail compared to EVERY SINGLE WEALTHY LIBERAL IN OFFICE who decries the unfairness of the distribution of wealth yet are millionaires themselves! Or every "green" activist who wants to saddle us with "carbon friendly" laws based on the falsehood of man made global warming, yet they themselves travel on private jets and drive SUVs.
I think the left is PO'ed at Vitter and Craig for copyright infringement.
