They've Caught On To Our Plan

Mark Morford, the anti-family, anti-God, anti-life SF Gate columnist who dumped in such extreme fashion on the Duggar family has figured out that his side is losing:(H/T:Pro Ecclesia)
... A dark cloud of righteous bleakness and it looms like a giant synthetic cheesecake-scented Glade PlugIn of potential misery.

It is this: According to another set of data, for the past 30 years or so, conservatives -- particularly those of the right-wing red-state Christian strain -- have been out-breeding liberals by a margin of at least 20 percent, if not far more.

It's true. The reason? Why, God loves babies, of course. White American babies, most especially. Also: issues of space, religion, sexual orientation and, of course, conscience. Or, you know, lack thereof.

One theory goes like this: Libs are generally more socially conscious and hence tend to actually give a modicum of thought to what it means to pop out a brood of children in this modern overstuffed age. Also, many other liberal bohos are (admittedly) happy selfish suckwads who want all the modern booty for themselves and won't want to give up the Ducati and the plasma and the biannual trip to Cinque Terre for the sake of a pod of rug rats and 15 grand a year (each) for private kindergarten. Translation: Libs just aren't procreating like they could/should be.

Conservative Christians, of course, have no such conscience. Among the right-wing God-lovin' set, there is often little real awareness of planetary health or resource abuse or the notion that birth control is actually a very, very good idea indeed, and therefore it's completely natural to worship at the altar of minivans and SUVs and megachurches and massive all-American entitlement and have little qualm about popping out six, seven, 19 gloopy tots to populate the world with frat boys and Ford F-150 buyers and food court managers.

I always assumed it might actually be a good thing that conservatives breed so mindlessly, because all those unhappy neocon kids, all those repressed misled tots grow up and eventually begin to (well, sometimes) think for themselves and ultimately do what any good kid does: rebel against their parents' silly dogma and become a bit more open-minded and hopeful, right?

Not exactly. Apparently, according to the research, four out of five kids actually stick with the political affiliation of their parents, generation after generation, with religious conservatives far more unlikely than their liberal brethren to allow their kids to develop the capacity for independent thought (given how it's so, you know, dangerous to America). Also, one word: homeschooling. I'm just sayin'.
Never mind Brother Morford's casual contempt and all-too-evident arrogance and intolerance for people and cultures unlike himself. Overlook his piled-up insults. Notice for a moment how many things he's simply wrong about on the face of it.

He mentions "all those unhappy neocon kids". Mr. Morford, neocons like Sean Hannity are contracepting and aborting along with the rest of the country. It's us full-blown faith-guided social conservatives who are having such large families. You aren't going to win the culture war if you don't figure out who your enemies are. (Clue: It isn't Dick Cheney or Karl Rove. It's me, and a lot of regular guys just like me.)

Second, given your superior enlightenment and education, your post-Christian worldview and your obvious disdain for God, it seems likely that you believe in Darwinian macro-evolution, the so-called "survival of the fittest". But despite your elite status as a professional writer for the paper media, you haven't thought through to the realization that neither abortion, contraception, homosexuality, nor rampant self-centeredness are evolutionary survival traits. How many kids do you have, Mark? None, right? If it's less than four, my kids will out-vote yours. And how many grandchildren will you have? None right? How outvoted will your zero grandkids be by my 8 or 16?

Third, how is it you're just noticing this? Mark Steyn is making his living publishing books about this. I saw these same stats, oh, it must be five years ago in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, calling it "the Roe Effect".

Fourth, don't say I don't know about the health of the planet. I could have 100 kids and still have a carbon footprint smaller than Al Gore's or John Travolta's. When the people who believe in global warming set an example, then maybe I'll sit up and take notice.

Or were you referring to overpopulation? The world is not overpopulated with people like my kids. They are few and precious, and the world is made better by their existance. Not because they're white Americans, because I'm raising to them be faithful Catholics. And there is no question about whether people are going to continue to have large families. The only question is which people? I vote for Americans to be among those continuing to have children.

As for homeschooling, and your hopes of getting your liberal hands on my kids in the public schools, you bet your sweet bippy that my kids will be homeschooled, by my Extraordinary Wife with her Master's degree, and our shared Catholic values. I am the principal of my kids' school, and you can be sure that there will be no gay "pride" events, nor visits from Planned Parenthood, nor intolerance of Christian symbols, nor any lack of prayer.

Your San Francisco culture is in a death spiral. Families are moving out in droves. When you are old, who will clean your streets of used condoms? Who will police your illegal immigrants? Who will there be for your public schools to indoctrinate? Who will start the buisnesses to employ the few children that you and your friends do have? People from another culture, that's who. The only question is whether that other culture will be American, Mexican, or Islamic. I'm betting on the latter two.

Oh, can you hear and see my standing ovation through the computer? Great post!

I've always argued that abortion, contraception, & homosexuality are counter-evolutionary. I don't know why these folks don't get that.

I also cannot figure out why the "tolerant Left" keeps swallowing sound-bytes about planetary health. Overpopulation concerns are not scientifically supported.

As we're looking to purchase a 12-seater Chevy Express in the coming weeks, I have to decide whether we are going to have to stick to the non-urban Midwest for all our travels, or if we should plan to vacation on the Coasts, out of defiance? :-)

EXCELLENT post, Paul!

And you are right. These doofi on the left would be dead in the water if not for those of us on the right to protect him, plus work for him, his ilk, and his constituants.

With the baby boomers about to retire, who's going to take care of them? People like him??? NO, it is people like us.

His comments on overpopulation are laughable. In a world with today's technology, the earth is only running at about 4% capacity. Without today's technology, we would have far surpassed the world's ability to sustain us.

Unfortunately, God hasn't blessed me and the Unseen wife with any children yet.

People like this, their religion is Global Warming. Their sacraments are abortion, recycling, and irresponsible sexual expression. Their prayers are complaints about conservatives, and their sermons are TV shows and movies. They view us as heretics. As a new religion, they have yet to learn how to tolerate other viewpoints. There is a good case to be made that their moonbat theories be kept out of government policy on the basis of their vaunted Separation of Church & State.

Abortion is always rooted in either convenience or feminist rage. This person has once again proved this statement.

As I always remind leftists when their worlds come crashing down, Cause & Effect can be a real pisser sometimes, can't it?

And this guy is worried about Christians??? He should be worried about radical Muslims, who are outbreeding us with abandon! He hates us because we disagree with his twisted world view and commit the "great sin" of making him feel bad. He ain't seen nothin' yet if those we are trying to protect him from take over! Having a hand cut off, a tongue cut out, or being beheaded will feel a lot worse than being told no, you CAN'T have all of my money to fund your social experiments.

I have no problem with a "Mexican" culture dominating in the future, it would be great to see San Francisco inhabited by people who actually remember that it is a city named for a saint.

Hi Paul,

I'm just reading this post a month later, but I'm glad I did.

As Janet Smith said, we find someone we love so much that we want to have more people like them in the world. (And it sure is a lot of fun making that happen!)

Here's to our pro-life kids voting!
